Department of Historic and Social Sciences at the University of Bari, established in 1982, brings together scholars of history and social sciences and boasts one of the few courses in Italy on “The Teaching of History”, which involves creating and experimenting with history - learning games that are famous throughout Italy.
Historia Ludens is an association of teachers and students of the Undergraduate Course in Didactics of History that work at the Laboratory in didactics of History directed by Antonio Brusa at the university of Bari. The Association has designed and created new didactical instruments (laboratories, archives, gaming simulation) that attempt to innovate the current practice of history teaching.
DAEST (Department for Economics and Social Analysis of Territory), founded in 1979 at the Architectural University Institute in Venice, carries out research and didactic activities on urban and regional analysis , economy , territory, planning, sociology, environmental studies an evaluation techniques.
DEPARTMENT FOR ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN PLANNING University of Bari carries out research and didactic activities on architectural technologies and urban planning.
SIMLAB (Laboratory on simulation) former Laboratory on Simulation STRATEMA carries out didactic, research and experimental activities on the field of territorial analysis techniques. Special attention is dedicated to gaming simulations, to the use of cellular automata, to instruments for decision-making processes as well as on new information and communication technologies. STRATEMA was founded in 1986. SIMLAB was founded in 2000 and is the inheritor of Stratema’s intellectual patrimony.
SIGIS (Società Italiana dei Giochi di Simulazione - Italian gaming and Simulation Association), founded in 1991, is the italian section of ISAGA whose aim is the development of a network of contacts and relations among users and designers of GSs, the promotion of research on GSs, the establishment of form of cooperation and affiliation with associations and institutions interested in GSs and their use.
